Jesus: My Satisfaction
I was browsing on Pinterest the other day, trying to fill time since we weren’t doing anything that day. I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I get on Pinterest I find myself searching for something. No, not for a recipe, house design, awesome quote, or anything like that. I don’t usually admit it to myself, but often times I find myself searching for satisfaction. But when I got off Pinterest that day, I didn’t have the feeling of satisfaction in me. Pinterest didn’t satisfy me.
We all try to find satisfaction or fulfillment in many different ways: TV shows, movies, cooking, exercise, social media, fashion, boys, and the list goes on and on. But I’ve come to realize that all these things only bring temporary fulfillment. Even good activities don’t bring lasting satisfaction. We’re always left wanting more.
The other day when I’d finished up on Pinterest, I felt a small emptiness in my heart. But, having felt the same feeling before, I knew the remedy. I went and prayed. And you know what? That emptiness went away and was replaced by peace.
Jesus truly is our satisfaction. He saves us from our sins, He guides us in the paths of righteousness, He protects and cares for us, He fills us with peace, and He gives us His joy. He is all that we need. Often times we see all the things going on around us and we feel like we need just one more thing and then we’ll feel satisfied, but that never really happens. I’ve found that when I choose to run to Jesus instead of stuff or activities, then I find myself truly satisfied and at peace.
Psalm 63:1-8 “O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.”
Run to Jesus, and let Him be your true satisfaction! 🙂
With love,
Kelsey
